What is the NYT Mini Crossword?
Mini Crossword is a smaller and quicker version of the New York Times (NYT) crossword puzzle, designed to be completed quickly. It typically features a 5×5 grid and a set of clues that are often playful or punny. Weekday and Saturday mini crossword puzzles are available at 10 p.m. EST the previous day. The mini crossword puzzles of Sunday are available at 6 p.m. EST on Saturday.

Only subscriber users/players can play the Mini crossword on the The New York Times Games app Or the web at nytimes.com/games. You can also play on the tab of the New York Times News app.
How to Play
The objective is to fill the white squares with letters and forming words or phrases. Each answers intersect with one other. Now you can use the clues listed under the Across and Down sections to find the correct entries.
How do I know the puzzle is complete?
- When the puzzle solved correctly, the music will play and a congratulatory message will appear on the screen.
- If the board is completely filled in and no message received, it means that at least one square contains an incorrect letter and needs to be checked again.
After the completing of the Mini crossword, a blue star will appear to indicate completion. The Mini Crossword does not include a streak feature, but you can review your time statistics in the Leaderboard section.
